Guera Crockett

Guera Crockett, Violin

Gaining a place at the age of 12 in the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland inspired Guera Crockett to pursue a career as an orchestral musician.

She studied at the Royal Academy of Music with Clarence Myerscough, and took part in masterclasses with Professor Zakhar Bron and with members of the Amadeus String Quartet. She was awarded a scholarship to attend the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute in 1988, and continued her postgraduate studies at the RAM with Xue Wei.

After graduating, Guera joined the Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla, then went on to become a member of the Ulster Orchestra and, later, the Orchestra of Scottish Opera. She has also played with the Orquesta do Porto, the RSNO and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.

Since returning to Aberdeen, Guera has performed as soloist and chamber musician, and teaches violin at Aberdeen City Music School and the University of Aberdeen as well as NESMS. She is a member of Aberdeen Sinfonietta.
