James Halsey

James Halsey, Cello

James Halsey, who studied at the Royal College of Music with Eileen Croxford, combines his busy chamber music career with regular solo appearances and teaching.   He has been teaching cello and chamber music at the Royal College of Music Junior Department since 1986, and his ex-pupils from RCM-JD include cellists in all areas of the profession, and students at all the major UK conservatoires.

James has performed all over the world in chamber groups including the Auriol and Bingham quartets, Dartington Piano Trio and Tagore String Trio. He coaches on ten annual chamber music courses, as well as running two cello courses and numerous one-off cello events.

As a solo cellist, James has played Beethoven sonatas and unaccompanied Bach in Japan and Australia, as well as presenting recitals and giving concerto performances all over the UK.
